Kaisan is a Republic pilot who has taken the path of the Jedi in the wake of the recent blows dealt to the Order.
Kaisan was the last born of the Varru Children, and is the only surviving son of Elson and Olya Varru. His older brother died when both boys were very young: an accident while swimming off the shore of one of the Varru family’s private beaches on Corellia. After this, Kaisan’s parents became frightfully protective of him – something that extended throughout the rest of his childhood. This probably explains the dare-devil, risk-taking streak that he developed in adolescence. Once he had gotten his taste of flight and had demonstrated his potential, nothing in the galaxy could keep him from practicing it whenever he could. (This man loves to fly.)
While others in his circle amused themselves with parties, gambling dens, and other “frivolous” pursuits, he spent as much time flying new vehicles and ships as his increasing stipend would allow – and with such skill as sometimes shocked his instructors. In his late teens, he went so far as to participate in daring and reckless speeder racing in the back alleys of Coronet, despite all efforts to keep him from such dangerous and deadly activities.
Keeping Kaisan from doing things he had set his mind to was difficult, however. He was such a headstrong, yet likeable and friendly person. He could look at you a certain way and you just felt like you wanted to help him in any way possible. If some particularly hard soul could resist his charm, a few words (and a bit of cash) never hurt matters either.
Eventually, after school was finished, Kaisan sought a commission in the navy – which he had learned was always on the lookout for good pilots. Since it was a respectable position for a young aristocrat to aspire to, he received his family’s blessings. Once enrolled, with a combination of influence and skill, he breezed through the academy and quickly entered the ranks of starfighter pilots. Now, a scant year after graduation, war has broken out following the assault on the Jedi temple at Coruscant and the secession of planets to the Lettonian legion. In the short while the war had raged, he’s flown mission after mission for the Republic.
Of course, his family had urged him repeatedly to try to get shunted off to less hazardous stations… despite his continuous protests; they seem to have finally succeeded at getting him moved. In the weeks following the battle over Iridonia, he received word that he was being transferred to Coruscant, of all places, glamorous and urbane… and he has been able to learn little else… Still, he has hopes. After all, if there are two things he knows, they are flying ships and handling people. Surely someone somewhere can be persuaded to enlighten him.
